January 16 -18 (MLK weekend), 2009 hosts Asheville’s 3^rd Annual indie/modern/pop/rock weekend!  On the heels of the highly successful second year extravaganza (voted among the Top Shows of 2008 by the famous Mountain Xpress “Best Of” Poll, tied with the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam), POPAsheville will again host over 1000 music fans and over 200 band members, and feature performances by 30 carefully selected rock/pop bands at The Grey Eagle, Stella Blue and The Rocket Club.  The fest will also include workshops (new this year), an industry panel discussion, a performer’s party, and more!  Free transportation (powered by LaZoom Tours using biodiesel fuel, and EcoTrips using electricity) will carry chilly festivalgoers from venue to venue, and one bus will itself function as an entertainment venue. 

Exploding in the dead of winter, POPAsheville has created quite a buzz about pop, rock, and modern music in Asheville, and has established itself as a sparkling outlet for sponsor visibility during a time when business is typically down, and in an economically difficult year.
